Lead Therapist and Co-Founder

Jamie L. DiMarco LCSW-R

I'm a LCSW with 13 years experience working in the Rochester community. Much of that focus has been working with older adults, and the glaring need for mental health services inspired me to start this practice. I work with each client to meet them where they're at, focusing on being a good listener, advocate, and therapist in order to help maintain and/or improve quality of life. By coming to each individual's residence, the barrier to transportation is eliminated, and the client is more inclined to feel comfortable and safe.

Testimonials

"We were skeptical at first, to be honest. But mom has done great! She looks forward to her time with Jamie, and we are having better luck at communicating." ~ Lydia "Proud Daughter and Caregiver"

"The biggest issue my dad is facing is grief. He is dealing with a lot of loss and Jamie has been a huge help." ~ John, Rochester, NY

"I'm out of town and my mom is in Rochester. Jamie has been working with her to get through some difficult family times, plus she had to move to assisted living. That hurt my mom, and she was so angry and depressed. Jamie has made a sincere difference, I'm so glad she can come right to mom!"  ~ Cheri, Syracuse, NY

"My dad definitely enjoys his visits from Jamie. He tells me that she cares and helps him feel like he still has a say in what's happening. We feel like we have a partner who can help us with some of the hardest stuff you never think about until it's coming at you. Thank you, Jamie, you've been a blessing." ~ Andrea, Rochester, NY

Transform Your Life with American Elder Care Mental Health

Karen Crowe LMSW

My name is Karen Crowe, LMSW and I am a mental health therapist

with American Elder Care. I specialize in working with older adults who

struggle with depression and anxiety.

I earned my BS in Psychology at John Carroll University in Cleveland,

with a concentration in Gerontology. I earned my Masters degree in

Social Work at the University of Buffalo.

My career has been spent working with older adults in various contexts -

as a social worker in a Skilled Nursing Facility and a Client Care Liaison

for a companion care company. I have done many individual projects

and have taught classes assisting older adults in finding ways to leave a

legacy through videos and writings.

I have an understanding of the compounding losses that many older

adults experience - loss of loved ones, independence, physical function,

sense of purpose after retirement.

Learning to adapt and accept circumstances beyond your control is one

of the biggest challenges during this time of life. It is never too late to

learn ways to shift your thinking and discover new coping strategies that

will help you find meaning and satisfaction. I have a strong belief that everyone

deserves to find peace during these later years - and I believe that it is

possible!

Our Therapy

Depression & Anxiety

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.

Trauma & PTSD

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. These tend to show especially after limitations are placed on a once independent person. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of healing and acceptance.

Relationships

The caregiver relationship with a parent can turn a family inside out.  A therapist is the helper who facilitates an outlet for the Older Person to have a voice, and to get out frustrating emotions, fears, and grief.
